Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Geoscience Technician to join our expanding Geoscience Team in Abu Dhabi. The role is part of a newly branded regional division and will play a key role in supporting the development of a major unconventional asset.
As a Geoscience Technician, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of geoscience professionals including a Senior Geologist, Geophysicist, and Petrophysical Advisor, while collaborating closely with reservoir, drilling, completions, production, and water management teams. Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical and administrative support to the geoscience team by managing and organizing geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data.
Assist in the preparation, QC, and loading of well, seismic, and production data into geoscience software platforms.
Generate maps, cross-sections, and data plots to support subsurface evaluation and reservoir characterization.
Collaborate on project workflows with geologists, geophysicists, and petrophysicists to ensure timely delivery of data and outputs.
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., reservoir engineering, drilling, completions) to share relevant data and insights.
Maintain data integrity and version control across platforms and shared systems.
Contribute to the documentation of technical procedures and standards.
Support the broader division's mission to grow unconventional resources in the region.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, Earth Sciences, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
Previous experience in a geoscience technician or similar technical support role within the oil and gas industry is advantageous.
Familiarity with geoscience software (e.g., Petra, Petrel, GeoGraphix, IP) is preferred; proficiency in Petra is an asset but can be developed on the job.
Strong data management, organization, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
