All resources, and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products. Includes all types of maintenance service (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

The Generator Technical Field Advisor (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Systems. Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram), troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

Direct and perform repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies.Recognize, Predict and document potential generator failures.Present to the customer accurate generator quality solutions as presented and selected by the engineering team.Familiar with Power Circuit Breakers, Protective Relay Systems, AC and DC Motors / Generators, Programmable Logic ControllersWorking knowledge of basic electrical circuits and electrical troubleshootingWorking knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawingsParticipate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and proceduresSupervision of projects execution , including: generator field and stator rewinds, general generator repairs, and inspectionsSupport warranty administration and troubleshooting issuesProvide Supervision of the third party vendors during outages executed by Steam Power services - generator field.Technical direction and guidance to craft labor in support of a power equipment outageDeveloping in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

Required Qualifications

Significant experience in Oil & Gas or power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance or power plant equipment installation/commissioningDemonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is requiredThis role requires advanced experience in the Services & Field Service and Technical Advising. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

Desired Characteristics

Experienced level. Has the knowledge and skill to oversee outage management within a competency and may possess expertise in a secondary competency. Demonstrates mentor and team lead skillsExperience and training on Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferredStrong attitude to manage relationships with customers, concerning technical and contractual aspects.Follow up all quality aspects according to Lean approach and GE Vernova SQDC manual and proceduresWorking knowledge and application of EHS rulesStrong organizational, project management, oral/written communication and interpersonal/leadership skillsStrong business acumen and ability to sell GE Vernova products to the customerDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
