PLSC Graduate Teaching Fellowship (GTF)
The Department of Plant Sciences is offering a ½ Graduate Teaching Fellowship (GTF) for the 2025-2026 academic year. The purpose of the GTF is to support graduate students who have a keen interest in teaching to further develop their teaching skills. The duties of a GTF holder may include instructing one or more classes, serving as a grader for assignments and/or examinations, facilitating laboratory or discussion sections. For the successful candidate, a statement of specific duties will be developed in conjunction with the Graduate Chair and the relevant course instructor. The GTF holder will be expected to provide up to 12 hours/week for term 1 or term 2. This award is valued at $8,500.
As this GTF position represents a major time commitment, it is important that interested graduate students talk to their supervisors to make sure that they are onboard.
Qualifications
Education: Current Graduate Student in the Department of Plant Sciences.
Experience: Student must be full-time students in good standing, making satisfactory progress in their program. The entrance average or cumulative graduate GPA should be at least 80%. To be eligible, MSc student cannot have exceed 36 months in program, and PhD students cannot have exceeded 48 months in program.
Skills: Student should have effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
