If you are a General Tax Lead looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Monterrey, Mexico location, you will be a key leader within our Global Business Services (GBS). This is a highly skilled role where you will contribute to the success of our global tax function by supervising the day-to-day processing of tax-related activities. You will oversee senior and junior analysts responsible for analyzing complex tax data, supporting compliance, reporting, and planning efforts. You will also be responsible for helping drive forward our strategic initiatives and will work closely with Supply Chain, Sales, Compliance, AR, and AP Departments.

AS A GENERAL TAX LEAD, YOU WILL:

Tax Calculation & Filing: Lead the filing of annual income tax returns and submit monthly/quarterly sales tax filings in accordance with country-specific regulations.

Tax Strategy & Reconciliation: Ensure maintenance of transfer pricing documentation, contribute to tax planning strategies to optimize efficiency, and ensure compliance with intercompany netting restrictions.

Tax Payments & Foreign Trade: Ensure compliance with country-specific tax payments (e.g., Brazil’s ICMS) in collaboration with AP, and oversee the customs payment process (e.g., Mexico’s PECE).

Compliance: Review and register supplier-issued documents for compliance (e.g., Mexico’s Complemento de Pago, Constancia de Situación Fiscal (CSF), Opinión Positiva SAT).

Global Tax Support: Govern tax master data, monitor ongoing tax compliance, address tax-related inquiries from all stakeholders, and conduct periodic audits.

SCHEDULE: This position follows standard business hours.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree in taxation, finance, accounting, Business Administration or a related field.

4 - 7 years of relevant experience with tax accounting and Technical Accounting.

Ability to oversee a group of tax analysts.

Strong knowledge of Mexican tax law and SAT regulations.

Fluency in English and proficiency in Spanish (both spoken and written).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with financial software such as Oracle ERP Suite.

Solid regional accounting knowledge (i.e., US GAAP, IFRS).

Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Master’s degree in one of the fields mentioned above.

A CPA (Contador Público Certificado), Enrolled Agent designation, or local equivalent.

Intermediate Portuguese.

Collaboration First Hybrid Work Arrangements: This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration first mindset, which is the understanding that teams will work together in-person and colleagues should be flexible to adjust their hybrid days based on business needs. You will have an opportunity to work with your team and leader to determine when you should be in office to drive meaningful connections and to best serve our customers.
