General Manager - SCM

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

Develop and implement comprehensive SCM strategies to support organizational goals for cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

Lead end-to-end procurement, logistics, warehousing, and inventory operations for all solar projects.

Establish robust sourcing strategies for critical materials such as solar panels, inverters, MMS, cables, and other BOS items.

Oversee the annual procurement budget, ensuring effective cost control and value creation through strategic negotiations and supplier development.

Procurement & Vendor Management

Manage a wide supplier base, including domestic and international vendors, ensuring adherence to quality, price competitiveness, and delivery performance.

Build long-term partnerships with key suppliers and evaluate new vendor opportunities to enhance the supply ecosystem.

Review and approve major RFQs, purchase orders, and contracts, ensuring compliance with technical and commercial requirements.

Coordinate with technical and design teams for technical evaluations, material specifications, and design clearances.

Project Coordination & Material Planning

Collaborate with Project Managers and Site Teams to plan and schedule materials based on project timelines and construction sequences.

Ensure timely procurement, dispatch, and delivery of materials to multiple project sites with optimized logistics planning.

Monitor project material status reports and proactively address supply chain risks or bottlenecks.

Drive inventory optimization and reduction of non-moving or excess stock through effective planning and forecasting.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor a large SCM team of 20+ professionals across procurement, logistics, and stores functions.

Set measurable performance goals and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Foster continuous skill enhancement and professional development within the SCM team.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with company policies, ethical procurement practices, and statutory guidelines.

Implement and monitor ERP-based SCM processes to enhance transparency and efficiency.

Drive periodic vendor account reconciliations in coordination with the finance team.

Prepare and present periodic SCM performance reports, dashboards, and management updates.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline (MBA or PG in SCM preferred).

12–18 years of experience in Supply Chain Management within Solar EPC or Renewable Energy sectors.

Proven track record in strategic procurement, vendor management, and large-scale project material management.

Strong understanding of EPC project execution, technical drawings, and BOQ management.

Excellent negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics) and advanced Excel.

Strong analytical mindset with a focus on cost optimization and operational efficiency.
