**Job Summary**
Are you a passionate dining professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment? Join our team in beautiful Putney, VT, where we provide exceptional dining experiences to students in a specialized higher‑education setting that supports individuals with unique learning needs. We are seeking an experienced General Manager of Dining Services to lead our on-campus foodservice operation with excellence, compassion, and creativity. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who values both people and performance.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead, coach, and develop dining staff through meetings, training, and performance reviews
+ Ensure full compliance with company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations
+ Maintain food cost targets while upholding high-quality standards
+ Build strong relationships with campus leadership, guests, and internal departments
+ Oversee financial performance including P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cash handling
+ Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities
+ Manage purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships
+ Collaborate with chefs on innovative, nutritious menu planning
+ Ensure strict adherence to HACCP standards, proper food storage, and safety protocols
+ Maintain compliance with health, fire, and operational regulations
+ Lead with exceptional professionalism, integrity, and communication
+ Support catered events and special functions with strong planning and execution
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 8–10 years of upscale foodservice experience, including 6+ years in management
+ Strong leadership background including hiring, supervision, evaluation, and succession planning
+ Proven ability to meet performance goals in alignment with client and company standards
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Effective problem-solving and conflict-management abilities
+ Experience with food purchasing, cost controls, and inventory management
+ Strong financial acumen, including the ability to prepare budgets and financial reports
+ Knowledge of cash-handling procedures and multi-bank reconciliation
+ Proficiency with HACCP and food safety best practices
+ Strong catering experience required
+ Exceptional business etiquette and client relations
+ Must be able to multitask and stay focused in a dynamic environment
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
+ ServSafe or DOH certification is a plus
