Job Title: General Manager – Automotive Dealership OperationsJob Description The General Manager will lead all aspects of dealership operations, with a strong focus on building and developing a high-performing team and driving a successful business turnaround. This role oversees daily operations, sales performance, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced automotive environment. The position requires a hands-on leader who exercises sound judgment, thinks critically, and takes full ownership of results while fostering a positive, professional, and customer-focused culture. Responsibilities + Build, lead, and develop a cohesive, high-performing dealership team across sales, finance, and operations. + Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards for managers and staff. + Coach and mentor managers and employees to improve productivity, morale, and overall business results. + Foster a positive, professional, and customer-focused culture throughout the dealership. + Assess current dealership operations to identify inefficiencies, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement. + Develop and execute turnaround strategies to improve sales, profitability, and operational effectiveness. + Track key performance indicators and adjust strategies based on data and results. + Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all dealership functions. + Oversee day-to-day dealership operations, including sales, finance, and customer experience. + Ensure daily processes are efficient, consistent, and well-documented across departments. + Maintain compliance with internal policies and all applicable regulations and standards. + Analyze sales data, operational metrics, and financial reports to guide decision-making. + Solve problems quickly and effectively in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations. + Make informed, timely decisions that balance short-term operational needs with long-term growth objectives. + Use Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, to manage reports, schedules, and performance summaries. + Prepare and deliver clear operational and performance updates for ownership or senior leadership as needed. + Maintain organized documentation and operational records to support reporting, compliance, and decision-making. + Collaborate with sales and operational staff to ensure a seamless customer experience and support business growth. + Champion a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence within the dealership. Essential Skills + Proven leadership and management experience, ideally in environments such as commercial equipment rental, RV or motorsports rental, truck repair operations, or retail. + Demonstrated success in building, leading, and developing teams. + Experience driving performance improvement or leading business turnaround initiatives. + Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex operational and financial information. + Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced, high-pressure settings. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, with the ability to manage reports, schedules, and performance data. + Solid operations management capabilities, including process optimization and compliance oversight. + Strong sales orientation and understanding of how operations support revenue growth. + Effective communication and coaching skills to influence and develop managers and staff. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Automotive, commercial equipment, RV or motorsport, or vehicle sales, leasing, or rental experience. + Experience managing sales teams and operational staff in a dealership or similar environment. + Strong understanding of business operations, performance metrics, and key performance indicators. + Experience with project management and implementing operational improvements. + Proven ability to build a strong, collaborative team culture. + Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment with autonomy and accountability. + Motivation to make a real impact in a fast-growing dealership focused on helping customers secure reliable vehicles and financing. Work Environment This is a full-time, onsite role based at a fast-growing commercial work truck dealership operating five days per week. The General Manager works under the same roof as several related businesses, including a debt-buying operation and a long-established subprime auto finance company, creating a highly entrepreneurial and integrated automotive and finance ecosystem. The environment is fast-paced, growth-oriented, and customer-focused, with significant autonomy and accountability in a leadership capacity. You will work closely with sales, finance, and operational teams in a professional dealership setting, using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to manage operations and reporting. The culture emphasizes ownership of results, continuous improvement, and helping customers secure reliable vehicles and financing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrington, DE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
