Maintenance Technician – Emergency Shelter

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a well-established non-profit organization in Haverhill, MA to bring on a full-time Maintenance Technician. This individual will support the facilities team by carrying out preventive, routine, and urgent maintenance needs across several program sites, including apartment-style residences and administrative offices.
The organization offers onboarding, guidance, and ongoing support to ensure the right candidate thrives in the position.
Role Information
+ Locations: Haverhill, MA and Lawrence, MA
+ Environment: Emergency homeless shelter settings
+ Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
+ Additional Requirement: Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency maintenance (evenings/weekends)
+ Contract Length: 13-week assignment to start, with a strong likelihood of extension
+ Compensation: $22 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
+ Respond to emergency maintenance needs as part of the on-call rotation
+ Perform general repair work, including basic plumbing, electrical fixes, routine upkeep, and cleaning tasks
+ Utilize floor-maintenance machines as needed
+ Safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs
+ Interact with staff and residents in a courteous and professional manner
+ Travel between local program sites to address maintenance requests
Required Qualifications
+ Previous maintenance experience preferred
+ Proficient in English; Spanish bilingual ability is a strong plus (not mandatory)
+ Valid driver’s license with a positive driving record
+ Must pass CORI and driving history checks
+ COVID-19 vaccination required
+ Individuals with lived experience related to housing insecurity or homelessness are strongly encouraged to apply
