Industrial Painter & Blaster

Norfolk, VA | Temp-to-Perm | $22.71/hr+Neg

We’re looking for an experienced Industrial Painter & Blaster to join our team in Norfolk. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, preparing and coating critical equipment and components to meet the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

Perform abrasive blasting (grit, sand, or other media) to prepare metal surfaces.

Apply industrial coatings including primers, epoxies, and urethanes using spray, brush, or roll methods.

Read and follow work orders, specifications, and technical data sheets.

Inspect surfaces for profile, cleanliness, and coating thickness using gauges and tools.

Mask, tape, and protect non-coated areas.

Maintain and clean blasting/painting equipment daily.

Assist with shop support tasks such as moving parts, rigging, or minor repairs.

Qualifications

1–3 years of industrial painting, blasting, or coating experience preferred.

Familiarity with epoxy, zinc-rich primers, and polyurethane systems.

Ability to read technical specifications and SDS sheets.

Comfortable working in confined spaces or at heights (with proper training).

Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

High school diploma or GED required.

NACE, SSPC, or other coating certifications strongly preferred

Work Environment & Schedule

Shop and field-based work environment; exposure to dust, fumes, and weather conditions.

Required PPE provided, including respirators, gloves, suits, and safety gear.

Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch; start times typically between 7:00–8:00 AM (flexible based on discussion with manager).

Temp-to-perm opportunity with strong potential for advancement.

Pay Details: $22.71 per hour
