The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel opening in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, The Clayfield will deliver a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.

As a General Maintenance, you will play an essential role in maintaining the comfort, safety, functionality, and presentation of the hotel. Reporting to the Maintenance leadership team, you will support the day-to-day upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel systems while contributing to a seamless luxury guest experience through attention to detail, responsiveness, and pride in your work.

What You'll Do

Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and work orders throughout the property Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces Assist with maintaining hotel systems including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, painting, furniture, fixtures, and equipment Conduct daily inspections to ensure the hotel remains safe, functional, and well maintained at all times Support room preventative maintenance programs to ensure guestrooms consistently meet luxury brand standards Assist with setup, repairs, and maintenance related to hotel operations, events, and seasonal requirements Maintain organized engineering storage areas, tools, equipment, and inventory supplies Identify potential maintenance concerns proactively and communicate issues to leadership in a timely manner Follow all workplace safety procedures, emergency protocols, and hotel operational standards Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to support the overall guest experience Demonstrate professionalism, positive body language, and a solution-oriented approach in all interactions Support sustainability and energy conservation initiatives where possible Uphold brand standards while contributing to a polished and welcoming hotel environment Perform other job-related duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

Previous maintenance experience in hotels, residential buildings, or commercial properties is preferred Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, HVAC, and general repair work Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and respond efficiently to maintenance needs Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused mindset Must be reliable, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts if required Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods WHMIS knowledge and workplace safety awareness are preferred Experience with hotel systems and preventative maintenance programs is an asset A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the team wherever needed
