General Ledger Accountant
**General Ledger Accountant** **Location:** Oak Brook, IL **Employment Type:** Full-Time | On-Site **Role Overview** We are looking for a motivated accounting professional to join our finance team and take ownership of key general ledger activities. This position offers exposure to a broad range of accounting functions and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and modernization initiatives. **Primary Responsibilities** + Perform and review general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies. + Handle bank and credit card reconciliations, investigating and clearing variances promptly. + Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close across multiple accounts. + Monitor general ledger activity for unusual transactions and escalate as needed. + Assist with accounting for fixed assets, leases (ASC 842), inventory, and capital projects. + Collaborate with operations and other departments to ensure accurate financial data integration. + Support audits by providing schedules and documentation; assist with internal control and compliance activities. + Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency. + Contribute to updates of accounting policies and procedures to strengthen controls and consistency. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 2–4 years of experience in general ledger accounting and month-end close. + Solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and core accounting principles. + Familiarity with audit preparation and SOX compliance is a plus. + Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. + Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities. + Proficient in Excel and Oracle. + Interest in process improvement and accounting technology tools is advantageous.
