**Job Title: General Laborer** **Job Description** We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a General Laborer. Initially, you will take on the role of a general laborer with the potential to advance to a 'package lead'. You will be responsible for packaging steel as it comes down the line, ensuring each customer order is fulfilled accurately. This is a unique packaging role involving handling of large steel coils, weighing up to 25 tons, which are moved by machines. Your responsibilities will include banding and strapping these coils together, as well as using a computer to track orders. You will receive training and certification to operate a hilo, so comfort with learning new skills is essential. This position requires quick thinking and the ability to halt production to prevent any nonconformance. **Responsibilities** + Package steel coils according to customer orders. + Operate machinery to band and strap steel coils. + Track orders using a computer system. + Report concerns and halt production if necessary to prevent nonconformance. + Receive training and certification on hilo operation. **Essential Skills** + At least 10 months of manufacturing experience. + Comfortable working in a steel environment. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. + Willingness to stand and walk for 10 hours a day. + Strong mechanical skills and aptitude. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in steel manufacturing. + Hilo operation experience. + Hand-operated banding experience. + A go-getter attitude and a desire to build a career in manufacturing. **Why Work Here?** Work in a small shop environment with about 20-30 people, offering a close-knit team atmosphere. The role requires working the afternoon shift from 3 PM to 1 AM, including paid breaks, and Saturdays from 1 PM to 8 PM. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Macomb, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
