General Foreman (13145)

 

We have a number of opportunities available for a General Foreman to join the team working on projects located on sites in and around Thames Valley Region.

The role is to proactively lead and effectively coordinate construction phase activities within the Project Teams promoting health, safety, environmental and construction best practice across the framework programme to demonstrating exemplary standards and leadership throughout the sector.

We work closely with our customers and supply chain partners to receive outstanding results  ​We have committed to working collaboratively with Thames Water, our valued strategic suppliers and other stakeholders to embed MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to realise leading safety, health and wellbeing, quality, customer service, sustainability and efficiency performance improvements.

What you will be doing 

Appraise the risk to the scheme in conjunction with the Project Manager and install and monitor adequate site security. In conjunction with the site management team, manage the project procurement process for suppliers and contractors in line with the Company processes and commercial best practice. Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audit. Ensure Permit to Work systems, Inductions and Briefings are correctly carried out. Plan and co-ordinate the operational delivery of the project as required. Oversee the day-to-day construction processes and ensure co-ordination within the site team, client, and contractors. Attend meetings with and maintain necessary regular contact with clients and stakeholders.

What we will need from you

Experience of working for a major sized Civil Engineering Contractor working on water or major highways schemes. Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations as well as a comprehensive understanding and experience of a wide range of construction techniques and best practices. Experience of managing and developing staff. Adopt a proactive approach to the environment and customer care of all the stakeholders involved in a project – promotion of positive image of the Company name to protect and promote the brand name.

Dependent on the project or section of work being supervised: specialist knowledge may at times be desirable or essential

Essentials

CITB Level 3 Safety Course SMSTS (5 day). Appropriate CSCS card. First Aid at Work (4 day). Experienced in IT Packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
