Job Details:
PurposeThe General Accountant provides support for accounting and reporting operations at Dell Med, including but not limited to, general ledger submissions, review of expenses in accordance with state requirements, and financial operations support for the school and health system.
ResponsibilitiesJournal Entries & Managing Reporting Accruals
Prepares accruals and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
Prepares and posts journal entries in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensures compliance with accounting standards.
Financial Data Analysis & Variance Reporting
Analyzes financial data to identify variances.
Prepares detailed explanations for variances.
Prepares and maintains reports for tax filings ahead of deadlines
Presents findings to management.
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicates with internal departments and external partners.
Provides financial information and support as needed.
Fosters positive relationships with stakeholders.
Reconciliation and Funds Management
Reviews and reconciles expense activities for assigned departments
Ensures accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Addresses discrepancies promptly.
System Improvements & Training
Assists in the development and implementation of accounting systems.
Identifies opportunities for process improvements.
Provides training for junior accounting staff.
Keeps up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Audit Support and Cost Center Maintenance
Establishes funds and coordinates with central offices as needed.
Compiles and prepares data requests for audits
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or other business-related field.
Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Accounting or other business-related field.
Five years of experience in healthcare, with increasing responsibility.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
Salary Range$61,000 + depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsThis is a full-time position; remote work is expected with limited possibility of hybrid work.
Standard office environment and equipment.
Requires occasional travel to local, state, and national meetings.
