Job Description A local client of ours is seeking a Sr. Accountant of General Accounting to join their accounting team. They will be responsible for performing the following functions in this role:  • Manage and reconcile inventory-related financial data across multiple operational channels, ensuring alignment between physical counts and ledger entries.  • Collaborate with external inventory service providers to streamline and enhance store-level count procedures, including self-managed programs.  • Design and refine accounting controls and inventory processes to support compliance with GAAP and SEC standards, while driving operational efficiency.  • Lead month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed variance analyses related to inventory reserves, shrink, and vendor compliance.  • Utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups) to analyze inventory movement and transaction data, identify anomalies, and support data-driven decision-making.  • Participate in system upgrades and integrations (e.g., SAP, POS, WMS), contributing to testing and implementation phases to ensure accurate inventory accounting.  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and internal reporting tools using platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, or TM1, and respond to inquiries from cross-functional teams.  • Support internal control reviews and audit processes, including SOX compliance, by executing and validating key inventory-related controls.  • Partner with stakeholders across Operations, IT, Merchandising, and Finance to support initiatives such as process rollouts, reconciliation improvements, and system enhancements.  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by applying Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to optimize accounting workflows and inventory accuracy. Skills and Requirements • 3-5+ years of experience in accounting, public accounting, or internal audit  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred  • Extensive knowledge of SEC requirements, GAAP and new accounting pronouncements  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)  • Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion • Previous experience in a retail environment  • Knowledge of SAP for basic accounting functions  • Experience with Alteryx, PowerBI, TM1, or Tableau  • Experience in Blackline  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CMA candidate preferred  • Knowledge of inventory experience null We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
