Schedule: Full-time, day shift (Monday–Friday; overtime as needed)
Travel Required: Occasional domestic and international (including training in Germany)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Gearbox Technician to join our clients manufacturing company in York, PA. This hands-on position is responsible for the disassembly, evaluation, repair, reassembly, and testing of industrial gearboxes. When not engaged in gearbox-related tasks, the technician will support assembly work on extrusion, blow molding, and auxiliary machinery as directed by the Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, repair, and reassemble gearboxes and gearbox motors

Diagnose faults and determine repair requirements; consult with OEM representatives when necessary

Use precision tools such as dial indicators and a 100-ton press during the assembly process

Perform electrical tests, including Hi-pot, resistance, and electric current testing

Set up and configure Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Use a heating table and liquid nitrogen to thermally fit components during assembly

Document evaluations and repairs; maintain accurate service records and cost estimates

Assemble components and subassemblies with minimal supervision, ensuring correct tolerances and alignments

Perform layout, positioning, and installation of drive couplings, gears, chains, belts, and bore-sighting

Support startup, processing, rebuilds, and repairs of machinery as needed

Identify equipment issues or safety concerns; escalate appropriately

Operate machining tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders as needed for custom repair work

Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, or machinery rebuild/repair

Required Skills and Attributes:

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents

Working knowledge of motors and a basic understanding of electronics

Comfortable using a wide range of hand and power tools

Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)

Must provide personal tools (specialty tools provided by the company)

Willingness to work overtime as required

Ability to pass a physical exam conducted by a company-approved physician
