Gateway Manager - Air Exports
C.H. Robinson is seeking a Gateway Manager for their office in Miami. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing service execution, financial performance, and team development across the Air Export Gateway department. You will work closely with cross-functional teams within our network to identify and implement competitive solutions aligned with customer needs. This position plays a critical role in customer retention and growth, managing local carrier relationships, and overseeing the selection and performance of local warehouse providers, as well as shaping pricing strategies. With the flexibility for remote work the rest of the time, this role strikes the perfect balance between teamwork and autonomy. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following: Leadership: + Foster a culture of growth, development, and engagement to support employee and customer success + Provide feedback, identify development needs, and support continuous training for direct reports + Lead recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing talent development initiatives Communication: + Communicate industry updates, departmental changes, and process improvements to the team + Collaborate with regional leadership and service line managers to align with company initiatives + Partner with global gateway teams on carrier selection and performance evaluation Strategy: + Partner with pricing teams to drive volume growth and maximize profitability + Collaborate with branch leaders to resolve issues and improve processes + Conduct onsite visits to support branches and promote gateway service capabilities Customer Service: + Build strong relationships with carriers, origin teams, and destination partners to support client success + Troubleshoot complex issues and design effective solutions Operations: + Maintain an up-to-date database of core lanes, service-level pricing, and carrier schedules, ensuring alignment with gateway operations and lane-based carrier strategies + Mitigate operating expenses by actively managing resources against activity forecasts + Support route development, local and regional sales staff in tailoring optimal customer solutions throughout the region + Develop and manage reporting tools to track performance, prioritize tasks, and analyze efficiency using operational and financial data + Quickly and effectively resolve issues with airlines, steamship lines, ports/CFS, outside forwarders/brokers + Maintain and update best practices and SOPs while ensuring supervisors and operations staff have the tools, time, and support needed to effectively manage consolidations **QUALIFICATIONS** Required: + High School diploma or GED + Minimum 5 years of Global Forwarding Air Export or Air Gateway experience + Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience Preferred: + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university + Proven flexibility & adaptability to product and customer needs + Time management and organizational skills + Excellent written & verbal communication skills + Ability to work flexible hours as needed + High sense of urgency with the ability to work with ambiguity + Values a diverse and inclusive work environment Disclaimer: + This job description is intended to generally describe the nature and level of work to be performed by employees in this position.
