Medical Assistant – Gastroenterology Clinic

Overview:
Join a collaborative and patient-focused outpatient Gastroenterology clinic. We’re seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in delivering high-quality care. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with flexible scheduling and a supportive work environment that values innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and label lab specimens in accordance with hospital protocolsSupport nurses and physicians during GI procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopiesPrepare patients and equipment for diagnostic proceduresRetrieve necessary supplies and equipment for GI examsDocument clinical findings and complete hospital forms accuratelyMonitor and record vital signs, weight, and other patient metricsAssist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfersPerform follow-up tasks as directed by clinical staffEssential Skills:
Medical assisting and patient care experienceProficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR), especially EpicPrior authorization processingExperience working with high-touch patient populations (e.g., Pain Management, Behavioral Health, GI)Ability to room 15–20 patients per dayQualifications:
High School Diploma or GEDCompletion of a Medical Assistant ProgramAmerican Heart Association BLS certificationMinimum 2 years of experience as a Medical AssistantAt least 1 year of prior authorization experience2+ years working with Electronic Medical RecordsPrevious experience in gastroenterology or a related specialty (preferred)Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)Work Environment:

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
