Gasoline Engine Mapping Engineer
Ford
In this position…
Engine mapping is the foundation of engine calibration and feeds the PT Dyno and Commodity Calibration processes. The role of a mapping engineer is to develop the calibration values required for fundamental engine operation. This includes characterization or modeling of engine attributes and optimization of engine actuator setpoints. A mapping engineer is responsible for collecting and analyzing data run on an engine-only dynamometer under steady state conditions and developing calibrations from this empirical data. This includes:
Camshaft schedule optimization Aircharge/Inferred MAP calibration Torque model calibration Torque ratio MBT spark Indicated and friction torque models Optimized DI fuel parameter settings EGR flow model calibration and EGR schedule optimization Aircharge, Torque and Spark modifiers Flex Fuel calibrations DFSO exit MBT offset calibration
