Our major Oil & Gas (O&G) client is seeking a Gas Accountant to join their team in Houston, TX for a 6-month assignment.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Gas Accountant to support natural gas trading and transportation activities at our client's Houston headquarters. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of gas transactions, including physical sales/purchases, transportation, and storage, while supporting monthly close and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities: Accurately record and reconcile monthly gas purchase, sale, transport, and storage transactions. Process accruals and true-ups as needed based on receipt of actual data. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure all transactions are supportable and properly documented. Manage commodity and transportation invoice payments in a timely and accurate manner. Coordinate closely with the Commercial team to ensure alignment between operational activity and financial results. Prepare and submit quarterly and annual regulatory reports. Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and analysis as needed. Participate in testing and implementation of system updates and accounting tools. Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, ideally within the natural gas, midstream, or energy industry. Proficient in SAP, Excel (pivot tables, lookups), Outlook, and ideally Allegro or similar ETRM systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Experience with regulatory reporting, audit support, and monthly close processes.
