FY26: Career Advising Curriculum Support Teacher, Division of Career and Postsecondary Partnerships and Career Advising, 1.0 FTE

Summary Description:
Under direction of the supervisor in Career and Postsecondary Partnerships, collaborates with career advising team members, central service staff, and school-based stakeholders to support district wide implementation of career advising content and instructional best practices. As itinerant staff, works directly with teacher teams, staff development teachers, content specialists, instructional specialists, curriculum department, and school-based staff as appropriate in support of career advising implementation and instructional strategies. Serves as a subject matter expert to infuse career-advising techniques and content into curriculum and programmatic options.Physical Demands:(Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.Special Requirements:(Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of MCPS policies and procedures, Career Advising Program content and expectations, curriculum support, and instructional best practices. Thorough knowledge best practices in preparing students to be College, Career, and Community Ready, as defined by MCPS and research-based practices for career advising as it pertains to the Blueprint for Maryland's Future. Knowledge of growth and developmental stages of adolescents, as well as the college and career programmatic options at the secondary level. Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently with staff, students, and parents. Ability to use a computer and other technological equipment. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak effectively to both large and small groups. Excellent human relations skills with the ability to establish good relationships with many different types of individuals. Demonstrated ability to analyze student performance data, then, formulate instructional strategies to meet student needs and career advising outcomes. Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).

Education Training Experience:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, or curriculum and development with a major in one of the core content academic areas, career and technical education, special education, emergent multi-language learners (EML), and/or counseling. Experience in delivering instruction, professional development, and/or training in developing classroom lessons. Three years of demonstrated successful experience as a counselor or classroom teacher at the secondary level; planning and/or conducting professional development and curriculum integration. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Meets Maryland state certification requirements in an appropriate field of study.
