Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GEDA minimum of 3 years’ experience of machine operation in a production environmentEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of Foundry experience in a production environment.Must be able to obtain an in-house mobile equipment certification, including use of forklift and boom lift.Experience with conducting general maintenance on equipment or experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.Experience using a computer to enter and track data. Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include holidays, weekends, and overtime.Physical Demands: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs.Essential Functions:
Howmet’s Houston Extrusions Plant (77031) focuses on converting specialty metals into value added extrusions for the aerospace and defense industries. The Furnace Operator is responsible for operating the furnace, following exact instructions per work order and maintaining work area clean.
Role and Responsibilities:
Operate furnaces with minimal supervisionInterpret and control furnace conditions to ensure the product is consistent with customer specifications and meets all quality standards. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Record production data and maintain production logs.Lifting, carrying, and push-pulling material in the furnace.Inspect furnaces and equipment to locate wear and defects.Maintain temperature logs.Perform other duties as assigned.
