Provides administrative and clerical support to a standalone funeral home, cemetery, crematory or a combination of these facilities. Guides families through available options for services during the time period prior to the event. Duties include greeting the public and providing information on services offered in a polite manner with a goal to meet and exceed customer expectations.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides detailed explanations of funeral service processes, pricing, and legal requirements, ensuring transparency and clarity.Coordinates with vendors, venues, and service providers to secure necessary arrangements and timely execution of services.Prepares death certificates, reports and documentsCompletes required permits and or certificatesPrepares and processes Veteran’s PaperworkEnsures required documentation to support requested products and services are accurate and complies with state/federal regulations and company rulesReceives and processes payments and contractsProcesses accounts payable transactionsAssists with the preparation of obituariesAssists with ordering merchandise and tracking inventoryActs as backup to ReceptionistGreets family members and friendsCommunicates client family’s needs promptly and accurately to the appropriate staff memberConveys a sense of concern and empathy with client family members at all timesResponds to customer inquiries via telephone, internet and in personMaintains professional and cooperative relationships with county clerk, medical examiner and physiciansMINIMUM Requirements
Education
High School or equivalentExperience
1 - 2 years of experience in an office clerical or customer service capacity requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of office equipmentMS Office Suite experience preferredBasic mathematics skills requiredGood verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and detail orientedHigh level of compassion and integrityAbility to maintain confidentialityWork CONDITIONS
Work EnvironmentWork indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditionsLimited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling requiredProfessional Dress is required when in contact with families. Work PosturesFrequent, continuous periods of time standing, up 6 hours per daySitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per dayClimbing stairs to access buildings frequentlyPhysical DemandsPhysical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usageCompensation:
