Summary:

The role involves working for Northern Trust, supporting a multi-billion-dollar high profile client within Hedge Fund Services, which is a global fund administrator, specializing in complex hedge funds and alternative asset investments. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to execute effective and strategic priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding environment. This individual will have the ability to leverage accounting knowledge, business knowledge and problem-solving skills to create efficient, controlled, and streamlined solutions. This role will focus on using low-code data transformation techniques to create new and optimize existing accounting reporting data models. The role will be a key part of the client dedicated team and will have high visibility to internal and client senior management.

Major Responsibilities:

• Carries out complex activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact

• As subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth support to the client dedicated team and partners at a highly technical level

• Acts as a flexible resource within the fund administration team stepping in to handle key tasks during periods of increased volume, staffing transitions, or specialized project needs

• Supports business and technology teams through design activities to ensure that all requirements are understood

• Assists with operational readiness, data migration, user testing, and implementation as necessary

• Translates the business requirements into technical configurations post conducting preliminary research followed by end-to-end business analysis, thereby converting raw data into meaningful information while keeping standardization in mind

• Provides leadership in identifying and understanding business needs and designing and implementing solutions using Excel and other technology solutions

• Collaborates across the Omnium Platform Services team to modernize accounting technologies and drive efficiencies

• Self-manages tasks, effort, issues and risks throughout a given project

• Develops best practice process documentation and review procedures

• Responsible for direct interaction with different committees and/or management

Knowledge/Skills:

• Expert in analyzing, visualizing, transforming, and depicting data via VBA, Power BI, and Alteryx

• Demonstrated working knowledge and hands on experience writing and optimizing DAX and MDX queries for data modeling, reporting, and advanced analytics

• Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and business/industry knowledge and functional expertise

• Strong technical accounting skills including working knowledge of US GAAP Hedge funds (variety of strategies including fixed income, quantitative, equity, multi-strategy), IFRS international funds (Asia, UK, Ireland) and Broker Dealer entities

• Highly flexible and adaptable to change; capable of being a ‘change agent’ to identify and drive productivity transformation

• Intellectually curious to learn and utilize new technology to improve existing processes

• Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills (“solutions-oriented” mindset)

• Client relationship focused (internal and external relationships)

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with accuracy

Experience:

• A College or University degree and relevant proven work experience

• Related Industry qualification is valued (ex – master’s degree, Big 4 public accounting/consultant experience)

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

• 10-15 years of experience

• Experience with Investment Management and/or Financial Services; Alternative Asset Management specific a plus

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Alteryx, and/or VBA

• Knowledge of various tools including Workiva, Wrike, Oracle, JIR

Salary Range:

$114,700 - 194,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
