We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic digital design and delivery division. You will play a strategic role in driving efficiencies, innovation, and modernization within the government by expanding digital services to simplify and enhance user experiences. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will work on service innovation program reviews and digital transformation projects to deliver efficient, effective, and affordable services.
ResponsibilitiesParticipate and contribute to project research and discovery by conducting field research and user interviews.Lead technical discovery and deliver related artifacts such as diagrams and documentation.Provide solution design and development services including detailed solution designs based on shared understanding from discovery.Complete features for the continued development of exemplar projects that meet the needs of product owners and improve the experience of Albertans.Discover and resolve functional and non-functional defects.Enhance solution code quality, tooling, and documentation for improved maintainability.Collaborate with frontend designers to deliver solutions aligned to a consistent look and feel.Advise and inform product owners on technical efforts and implementation options to facilitate frequent delivery.Support solution deployment and launch for limited and general availability.Contribute to a platform of user-centric services with a focus on reuse in solution design and implementation.Directly contribute to reusable common components and capabilities.Sustain ongoing development through onboarding of technical team members, maintaining technical documentation, and adopting and improving team development and quality practices and processes.Essential SkillsMinimum of 5 years experience using source control, particularly Git, in collaborative software development.3 years experience with automated unit testing and integration testing.3 years experience with database technologies, including relational databases and alternatives.Minimum of 5 years experience as a Full Stack Developer on complex software solutions in an agile team environment.3 years experience working on production applications using modern application frameworks and frontend Javascript frameworks.Additional Skills & Qualifications2 years experience incrementally transforming existing legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.Experience with at least one or more from the following tech stack: Frontend: Angular, React, Vue.js; Backend: C# .NET Core, Node.js (NestJS, Express), Django.2 years experience with design patterns and their application and software architecture considerations.Experience with Government of Alberta development guidelines and principles.2 years experience working with CI/CD pipelines.Experience working with teams that apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.Work Environment
The position primarily involves remote work, with occasional meetings or work sessions in Edmonton. Travel within Alberta may be required for field research and user interviews. Work must be done within Canada. When working remotely, developers are responsible for providing their own equipment, including computers and software. In-person work will involve an office space provided by the province, but developers must continue to provide their own computers and software. The primary virtual meeting tool is Microsoft Teams, with occasional use of Zoom. Mandatory training courses include topics such as security/cybersecurity and respect in the workplace.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $90.00/hr.
