We are seeking a Full Stack Developer for a unique opportunity to help transform the insurance industry through the market-leading Guidewire Cloud Platform. As part of the Insight Platform Engineering team, you will build and evolve internal data products using a Data-as-a-Product (DaaP) approach, leveraging AI-driven techniques to prototype, automate, and enhance data mining, data analytics, and insight delivery. You will work across the stack on our internal insights platform and high-impact initiatives, bringing a consultative mindset to partner with stakeholders, understand decision needs, and translate complex problems into secure, scalable, high-performance, cloud-native solutions that enable trusted, data-driven decision-making at scale.

Job Description

What you’ll do

Build, operate, and evolve internal data products using a Data-as-a-Product (DaaP) approach, ensuring insights are reliable, scalable, and reusable.

Work across the stack to support data mining, data analytics, and insight delivery, from ingestion and transformation to APIs, dashboards, and user-facing experiences.

Partner with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders using a consultative mindset to understand decision needs and translate them into actionable, data-driven solutions.

Apply AI-driven techniques to prototype, automate, and enhance data workflows, analytics, and operational processes.

Design and implement automation, monitoring, and proactive controls to improve platform reliability, performance, and data quality.

Develop and maintain operational tooling, runbooks, and documentation to support production data products and services.

Analyze incidents, data issues, and performance bottlenecks to drive continuous improvement and prevent recurrence.

Apply strong software engineering and cloud-native best practices to optimize operating environments and system scalability.

Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices across software engineering, data analytics, and cloud platforms.

Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and responsible AI usage, leveraging emerging technologies and data-driven insights to improve productivity and outcomes.

What you’ll bring

Required

Demonstrated ability to embrace AI-driven technologies and apply them in day-to-day engineering work, using data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or in a similar role, with a track record of improving system reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Hands-on experience building and maintaining full stack applications, including backend services, APIs, data access layers, and user-facing interfaces.

Experience using AI development tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) to assist with design, coding, analysis, testing, or automation.

Proficiency in modern, standardized programming languages commonly used in cloud and data platforms (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript, or equivalent), with the ability to apply sound software engineering practices across the stack.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex systems and devise effective, scalable solutions.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and clearly document designs, processes, and operational practices.

Hands-on experience with automation, monitoring, and performance optimization tools and techniques.

A strong commitment to building reliable, scalable systems that deliver an exceptional end-user experience.

Passion for technology and a demonstrated desire to continuously learn and grow technical skills.

Alignment with Guidewire’s mission to leverage technology to help protect and support others.

Proficiency in the English language (reading, writing, and speaking).
 

Preferred

Experience supporting data-driven applications, analytics platforms, or internal insight tools used for decision-making.

Familiarity with data analytics concepts, including SQL, data modeling, data pipelines, and performance tuning in support of insight delivery.

Experience working across the full stack, with exposure to backend services, APIs, and user-facing interfaces in cloud-based environments.

Experience using monitoring or observability tools (e.g., Datadog or equivalent) to understand application behavior and troubleshoot issues.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerized or cloud-native application deployment concepts.

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.

Comfort working in Linux-based environments, including basic scripting or automation.

Exposure to distributed data processing or analytics technologies (e.g., Spark, Redshift, or similar) is a plus.

Willingness to participate in on-call rotations as needed to support production data products and services.

Relevant Full Stack, Cloud, or AWS certifications are a plus.

Not all preferred qualifications are required; candidates are encouraged to apply if they meet most of the required qualifications.
