Balducci’s Food Lovers – Prep Cooks 

The Kitchen Prep Cook- Line Cooks supports the Prepared Foods Department and the Store by properly responding to the needs of customers; helping customers select items, include up-selling and cross-selling; providing food preparation advice to customers; placing and executing special orders for customers; resolving or referring customer complaints; and maintaining a friendly, polite and professional manner with and around customer. 

Prep Cook 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

• The Kitchen Prep Cook performs routine, repetitive tasks, including slicing and dicing vegetables, composing salads and cold items, weighing and measuring ingredients, stirring and straining soups and sauces, and cutting and grinding meats, poultry, and seafood in preparation for cooking. The Kitchen Prep Cook also cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils. 

• Supports the Department and the Store by ensuring that proper levels of product and supplies are stocked and maintained and taking delivery of products and supplies from receiving, other departments, and/or storage. 

• Supports the Department and the Store by providing training and assistance to new employees.

• Supports the Department and the Store by following our merchandising philosophy and maintaining and utilizing marketing tools such as signage and flyers to execute marketing campaigns. 

• Supports the Department and the Store by maintaining the appropriate vigilance and reporting security concerns and problems to the appropriate personnel in a timely fashion. 

• Functions in compliance with all the Company’s policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to workplace communication, conduct and behavior, timeliness, attendance, safety, sanitation, security, uniforms, and personal hygiene. 

• Functions in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including those relating to food safety and OSHA. 

• Functions in compliance with the goals and objectives and within the directives provided, with or without the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor.

Pay rate $17.50 to $19.50

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include healthcare, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).
