You ensure quality in the factory and are responsible for meeting quality targets. You are fully responsible for the people, machinery and the identification and elimination of quality losses and problems in the department. You grow your team’s capabilities and coordinates departmental activities in accordance with corporate standards, local requirements and ISO standards. In this role, you report directly to the plant manager with dotted line responsibility to corporate quality.

How you will contribute

You will ensure that all quality objectives, goals and targets in the factory (including regional and global commitments) are met. You will develop and track your department’s budget and eliminate losses. With your team, you will conduct regular plan-do-act-check assessments to plan how targets will be met, executing the plan and periodically checking and taking action to stay on track. In addition, you will ensure that there is strict adherence with all appropriate laws, food safety quality standards and consumer requirements of all manufactured products and manage crisis situations internally and externally in ways that support the company’s image, policies and business. As a people leader, you are responsible for recruitment and structuring of the department to ensure there are sufficient resources to deliver on plant objectives, set and assess performance goals, and coach and mentor team members.

What you need to know about this position:

The base salary range for this position is $95,100 to $110,967; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget.  In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results

·       Ability to lead a team of Quality technicians that audit the manufacturing lines to ensure all the Quality and Food Safety requirements are compliant during production.

·       Assist in ordering supplies

·       Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools to address quality losses.

·       Proactive to investigate, act and make decisions without being prompted.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Flexibility in scheduling. May be required to support sporadically on weekends and off-hours to connect with the core team and the Quality technicians.

·       Advanced computer skills, work proficiently with Microsoft Office and excellent MS Excel skills.

·       SAP knowledge is preferred.

·       Assist through the different quality audits

·       Conduct GMP and food safety inspections and management team. 

·       Maintain the pathogen environmental monitoring program. 

·       Manage of the hold and release program of finished product and ingredients/packaging material.  

·       Support the review of COAs and the release of ingredients and packaging material.

·       Prepare hold reports and root cause analysis. 

·       Review all lab results for issues and completion and maintain the trackers.

·       Estimate supply costs for budget purposes. 

·       Manage reporting and communication of weekly KPIs, and KAIs, scheduling, and process logs 

·       Maintain product quality forms and documents. 

·       Support lab staffing needs as support and back-up, including planning weekly assignments, arranging temps when needed, troubleshooting and maintaining lab equipment. 

·       General plant support for new products and R&D trials. 

·       General plant troubleshooting including investigation of complaint reports, consumer complaints, participate in sanitation alerts and root cause analysis.

Education / Certifications:

Post-secondary degree in a science related field, Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology preferred.

Job specific requirements: Onsite

Travel requirements: Less than 5%

Work schedule: Night Shift
