Position Overview:

The Exploratory Biomarkers group is seeking a Senior level scientist who will be involved in protein biomarker discovery and analysis with the goals of understanding disease mechanisms, human target validation and drug effect evaluation.  The scientist will contribute to projects by implementing cutting-edge affinity-based proteomic technologies (Olink, NULISA), as well as established technologies (Simoa, MSD, SimpleWestern, Ella). ​

Essential Functions:

·       Work with proteomic technologies, with a preference for candidates with genomic experience.

·       Perform testing of clinical and other study samples using Olink and Nulisa technologies.

·       Handle and process various biosamples such as plasma, serum, fluid, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) with high attention to detail.

·       Apply pre-developed assays in sample testing, with no requirement for new assay development.

·       Operate automation and liquid handling systems, and ideally have experience with next-generation sequencing.

·       Assist in running assays for multiple large-scale projects, ensuring accurate and reproducible outcomes.

·       Develop, validate, and implement home-brew Simoa assays for immunology and neurology projects.

·       Develop, validate, and implement MSD, Simple Western and Ella assays for immunology and neurology projects.

·       Maintain detailed records of experimental work by entering data in Benchling.

·       Maintain all relevant lab equipment in good condition.

·       Report results to the lab head.

Required Skills:

·       Experience with high multiplex Olink and NULISA platforms.

·       Experience with low plex and single plex immunoassays: Meso Scale Discovery, Ella.; with experience in custom assay development and validation.

·       Experience in handling biological materials (plasma, serum, CSF, tissues, etc.).

·       Lab automation (liquid handling workstations, plate washers).

·       ·Knowledge of R is a plus.

·       In-depth knowledge of Simoa platform (at least 3 years of experience). 

·       Extensive experience in home-brew process is a must.

·       Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Simoa HD-X analyzer.

·       Strong organizational and record keeping skills; attention to detail and meticulousness are critical

Basic Qualifications:

·       BS o Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related subject areas with minimum 4-6 years of experience in protein biomarker immunoassay development and implementation or MS Degree with 2-4 years of experience in above related space. or PhD with 0-2 years of experience within the protein biomarker immunoassay development and implementation.

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
