About the Role:

As a Front Office Supervisor, you will lead the daily operations of the front desk, ensuring excellent guest experiences, smooth check-in/check-out processes, and compliance with hotel policies. You will support the Front Office Manager in supervising the front office team, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining high standards of guest service. As part of the Hyatt Place Toronto Airport pre-opening team, you will play a vital role in setting up front office procedures, training staff, and ensuring the department is ready for a successful opening.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in supervising the front desk function; ensure staff is properly trained including service expectations, hotel facilities and services, local directions, property management and reservations systems, safety, and emergency procedures, etc. Assists in scheduling staff according to labour standards and forecasts occupancy; assigns daily work tasks to employees, and monitors labour costs to stay within departmental budget. Monitor performance and recommend corrective or disciplinary action.  Alert management of potentially serious issues. Up-sell rooms where possible to maximize hotel revenue. Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions per established procedures including but not limited to posting all charges, completing cashier or other reports, preparing deposits, and counting/securing assigned bank. Ensures adherence to procedures for hotel accounting, credit control, handling of financial transactions, securities of monies, guest security and emergency procedures as established. Routinely check in/check out guests, answer phones, take reservations and assist staff with job functions.  May be responsible for issuing safe deposit boxes to guests and ensuring the security of keys.  Promote hotel services, facilities, and outlets; provide guests with information such as local attractions and directions to increase guest satisfaction. Complete opening and closing shift duties and communicate any outstanding guest requests or issues to management that may require additional monitoring or follow-up. Respond appropriately to guest complaints/requests.  Make appropriate service recovery gestures per established guidelines. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.  Perform other duties as assigned which may include guest room tours, concierge services, special guest requests, etc.). Any other duties as assigned by your manager. 
Requirements: Education: High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Hospitality or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 2 years of front desk or guest services experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; proficiency with hotel PMS systems preferred. Attributes: Professional, organized, guest-focused, and able to lead by example in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility: Availability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Health & Safety:

Ensure front office staff follow Hyatt’s Health & Safety Program and comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations. Lead by example in promoting safe work practices and enforcing emergency procedures. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards in the front office area. Investigate and report any staff or guest incidents promptly, escalating to management when necessary. Promote the 'Clean as You Go' policy and ensure the front desk area is always clean, organized, and safe.
