Job Title: Senior Process Engineer – FPSO
Location: Perth, WA (occasional offshore travel required)
Type: 18-Month Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Roster: (Standard Monday–Friday)
Act as the Perth-based technical focal point for the Ichthys FPSO process and utility systems. Provide expert-level operational support, resolve emergent facility issues, and identify opportunities for debottlenecking and performance optimisation. This is a hands-on, operations-facing role, not design-based.
Key Responsibilities:Operations Support:
Provide frontline process engineering support to FPSO operations for real-time troubleshooting
Conduct process and integrity surveillance to detect threats to production or reliability
Manage risks associated with FPSO systems and support day-to-day operational decisions
Assist with facility breakdowns and planned shutdowns
Engage in daily operational interface with key stakeholders
Risk & Compliance:
Participate in HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other safety risk assessments
Ensure Management of Change (MoC) processes are followed
Contribute to compliance with Safety Case and regulatory requirements
Monitor performance standards and ensure deviations are addressed appropriately
Maintenance & Optimisation:
Support maintenance and shutdown planning with prioritisation input
Identify opportunities for system optimisation, debottlenecking, and reliability improvement
Review and refine operating procedures
Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise closely with operations, maintenance, shutdown planning, engineering teams, and OEM vendors
Coordinate with third-party contractors for support and study work
Leadership & Mentoring:
Support and mentor less experienced FPSO process engineers
Operate independently with minimal supervision
Candidate Requirements:Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or a related Engineering field
Experience:
Minimum 10 years, ideally 15+ years in oil & gas operations support (FPSO strongly preferred)
Must have direct FPSO experience and a strong understanding of its process & utility systems
Design-only profiles will not be considered
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a high-paced operations environment
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Aspen HYSYS (steady state & dynamic) and OSI PI
Familiar with SAP PM and Meridium APM (desirable)
Strong knowledge of Safety Case regulations and Safety Critical Elements (SCEs)
