The Formulate & Grind Lead Operator is to assist the Formulate & Grind Line Supervisor to run an efficient Formulate & Grind line in a quality and safety-oriented manner. This role will be to work safely and within the guidelines of the Sanitation and QA Department to formulate and form all beef logs within White Castle specifications and USDA requirements. This position description does not contain a comprehensive list of required duties and responsibilities. The Formulate & Grind Lead Operator is expected to perform related duties assigned by management, which may be added, revised, or eliminated based on business and operational needs, with or without advance notice.
What we are looking forHigh School diploma or GED is required; and a minimum of one year of knowledge or background in the meat processing industry is preferred;Knowledge of how each piece of equipment operates and be able to function efficiently in any of the line positions which is acquired through observation and hands on experience;Capability to become certified with the operation of the forklift and hand truck will be required;Ability to direct and motivate team members;Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Outlook;Ability to learn the internal WMS system;Possess good employee relation skills, as well as good verbal communication skills, teamwork, ability to give and receive direction, and follow detailed instructions;Aptitude to troubleshoot problems and be able to make on the spot decisions to keep equipment running;Ability to learn, apply and train others on equipment procedures and workplace health & safety procedures;Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;Capability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes;Adequate knowledge of safe lifting procedures and the “lockout/tagout” procedures and proper procedures for safety;Work closely with the Quality Assurance Department involving HACCP and proper documentation of SSOP’s;Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training; andMust be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you will doAssist the Formulate & Grind Line Supervisor in training, directing and motivating department team members;Assume and complete all specific duties of the form/grind operator in their absence as needed;Responsible for formulate & grind line production;Verify production counts and quality of product during formulate & grind activity;Receive and store raw materials;Ensure raw material inventory is counted daily;Weekly inventory of all freezers and dry goods conducted by 2nd shift lead & supervisor;Prepare formulate & grind reports;Work closely with quality assurance to assure quality of finished products;Strict adherence to the quality assurance guidelines must be always maintained to insure the wholesomeness of our product;Responsible for adhering to HACCP and proper documentation of SSOP’s;Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures;Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures; andCommunicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSFrequent bending, turning, twisting, climbing, stooping, standing, and pulling;Ability to physically lift 60 – 70 lbs. of boxes of meat (unassisted/assisted);Ability to frequently work in a wet slippery environment with exposure to cold, water and noise, occasionally to heat, fumes, smoke, dirt, or dust;Ability to wear safety gear including safety glasses, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, hair nets, and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;Prolong periods of walking, standing, and occasional sitting;Capability of frequency working around grinders, blenders, and screw conveyors; andAbility to hear, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.
