Former Operator Trainee – Night Shift
Safety
• Follow all safety procedures at all times
• Work within established safety rules and proactively identify and remove hazards
• Report all near misses, incidents, first aid rendered, or unsafe working conditions immediately to the Plant Manager and Safety Manager
• Model safe work practices within the assigned area
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all plant safety standards
• Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others
Production
• Ensure safety always takes priority over production
• Learn to manage the machine crew, including rotations and break coverage
• Work in conjunction with the Former Operator to support packers and belt personnel
• Learn and assist with machine make-ready processes
• Learn to safely operate crane and hoist systems
• Read and understand job jackets for job-specific requirements
• Collect customer job samples when required
• Support achievement of production goals related to waste, output, and make-readies
• Assist the operator in ensuring DMS checklists and documentation are completed accurately
• Inspect products for non-conforming issues, including glue, folds, scores, cuts, and print defects
• Learn and assist with proper delivery setup for each job
• Learn and assist with glue system setup for each carton
• Learn and assist with completing daily production reports
• Learn and assist with code printer setup
• Learn and assist with troubleshooting formers, glue systems, and related production equipment
• Maintain responsibility for product safety and product quality and report concerns to Senior Management or the Quality Manager
Quality
• Assist the Former Operator in maintaining excellent product quality
• Ensure control plans are followed consistently
• Ensure correct procedures are followed for rejecting raw materials
• Ensure proper procedures are followed for accepting or rejecting questionable product
Maintenance
• Assist with machine maintenance as needed
Housekeeping
• Assist with housekeeping of machines and surrounding areas
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment within the assigned area
Machinery Support
• Perform and ensure preventive maintenance is completed according to scheduled PMs
Performance Excellence
• Actively participate in applicable performance excellence initiatives
Additional Responsibilities
• Serve as backup support for the Former Operator as needed
