**Job Title: Forklift Mechanic** **Job Description** The primary role involves maintaining and repairing forklifts, particularly electric and propane models, within and around the plant. The technician will ensure adherence to safety standards while performing maintenance tasks on heavy industrial equipment and other machinery as needed. **Responsibilities** + Perform maintenance and repair on forklifts and other heavy industrial equipment. + Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe workspace. + Conduct regular inspections on electrical, alarm, heating, plumbing, and machinery systems. + Perform general upkeep procedures and miscellaneous tasks on site as required. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of forklifts and other machinery. + Experience with hydraulics, preventive maintenance, and mechanical and electrical systems. + Skills in welding and maintenance repair, particularly with electric forklifts. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Bilingual in Spanish and English. + Fabrication experience, including MIG and Stick welding. + Technical knowledge of building systems such as electrical, plumbing, and heating. + Experience in a sawmill or wood production environment. **Why Work Here?** Join a unique manufacturer of custom wood pallets with a rich history since the 1970s. While all manufacturing equipment is housed in covered buildings, the workspace is not climate controlled. Candidates should be comfortable with walking and standing for extended periods across the expansive plant. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, Virginia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
