JOB SUMMARY
The Forensic Nurse Examiner provides timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to victims of violence. This may include a forensic exam, laboratory testing, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings and other duties as required. The Forensic Nurse Examiner will perform suspect exams. This role will work throughout the Marshfield Clinic Health System.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Diploma or degree in nursing and/or Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. Certificate of completion for an approved Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Adult/Adolescent or Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Pediatric course. If not completed, these trainings will be provided.
Preferred/Optional: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Two years hospital nursing experience and experience evaluating and caring for victims of assault, domestic abuse, child and elder abuse, neglect, and sexual crimes.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license and/or Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: SANE-A and SANE-P certifications at time of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification provided by the American Heart Association at time of hire.
