Food Services Worker
**Job Title: Food Services Worker** **Job Description** As a Food Services Worker, you will be responsible for assembling tray carts for patient lunch and dinner meal trays in a refrigerated environment. You will customize patient meal trays according to their selections and diet orders, ensuring a high standard of service and satisfaction. **Responsibilities** + Assemble tray carts for patient lunch and dinner meal trays using patient selections and diet orders. + Set up patient food service stations on the tray-line for breakfast meal trays and assist in the assembly of breakfast trays. + Deliver meal trays and snacks to patients on assigned units, replace missing items, and offer alternative selections for undesired items. + Inform unit-nursing staff of refused trays, missing trays, or patients not in room, and document food and liquid intake for selected patients. + Retrieve meal trays from patients' rooms and unit kitchens, ensuring no personal items are left on the tray. + Strip food carts and breakfast meal trays, sort and rinse dishes and silverware, and assist in washing breakfast dishes. + Deliver menus to patients, explain the menu process, assist with menu selection, and ensure proper condiments are noted. + Check with the Hospitality Service Office for new admissions or diet changes, and deliver new menus and diet awareness cards to patients. + Complete requests for NOW trays/meals, discharged trays, guest trays, and isolation trays with appropriate nursing staff sign-off. + Inventory and stock hospitality cart/basket and deliver bulk nourishments to units as requested. + Provide clerical support to the Hospitality Service Office, including answering telephones and following up on requests. + Produce standard computer reports, enter patient selections, and handle special food preferences for therapeutic diets. + Attend and assist in departmental in-services. **Essential Skills** + Experience in food preparation and volume cooking. + Strong customer service skills. + Knowledge of recipes, measuring, and cutting techniques. + Experience in food service and line cooking. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in food preparation and food service. + Excellent customer service experience. **Why Work Here?** This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to be permanently hired by a major DC hospital. The shift is from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with schedules released every two weeks. Weekend availability is required. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
