QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Completion of twelfth grade; • One year in a capacity similar to Food Service Assistant I in the Palo Alto Unified School District. OVERVIEW: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform routine food service activities such as preparing a variety of foods, serving food to students and staff, maintaining kitchen/food service areas in clean and sanitary condition, and performing related duties as assigned. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Supervise the operation of the student snack bar; • Place in-house orders for food and supplies for the snack bar; • Operate and maintain the cleanliness of food service equipment; • May supervise student helpers; • May act as cashier, receiving money, making change, and accounting for daily receipts; • Ensure that tools and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, stored, and secured; • Estimate food quantities needed; • Operate fryer; • Order, prepare, and inventory snack bar food and supplies; • Follow the predetermined menu, prepare meal components for brunch supplementary to the meal for the snack bar; • Prepare and set up food for the student snack bar while monitoring the quantities needed; • Prepare food components supplementary to the meal; • Operate standard kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils in a safe and efficient manner; • Maintain food service equipment and facilities in a clean and sanitary manner; • Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines; • Maintain snack bar records.
