Position: Food Service Assistant I
Location: Wilmington Hospital
Schedule:

Primary Shifts: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 3:45 PM – 7:30 PMAdditional Shifts: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, 6:45 AM – 3:15 PMWeekends and Holidays Required
Department: Food & Nutrition Services

What You’ll Do:Assemble patient meals with precision, following dietary guidelines and portion control standardsSupport sanitation efforts including dishwashing, pot sink operations, and general kitchen cleanlinessMaintain infection prevention protocols and food safety standardsHandle food storage, labeling, and rotation to ensure freshness and complianceInteract with patients, families, and staff with empathy and respectSafely operate food service equipment and follow all safety and health regulationsReport any unsafe conditions or equipment issues promptly

What You Bring:High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)Food Service Experience (preferred)Ability to read, write, and follow instructionsPhysical ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasksCommitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environmentTeam-oriented mindset with a “patients come first” attitude

Working Conditions:Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, cleaning chemicals, and infectious materialsUse of protective gear such as gloves and appropriate clothingFast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and safety

This position has a starting rate of $17.32 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.34 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.34 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
