Job Description

The Food Safety Technician is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of food safety programs to ensure the production of safe, high-quality food products. This role involves conducting routine testing, monitoring critical control points, and assisting with food safety audits. The Food Safety Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. 

 

How you will contribute  

Your key responsibilities will include, but won’t be limited to: 

Environmental Monitoring Testing (PEM): 

Conduct environmental swabbing and testing in production areas. 

Interpret test results and identify potential sources of contamination. 

Report any out-of-specification results to the Food Safety Coordinator immediately. 

Assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions for environmental issues.  

 

Ingredient, in process and Finished Product Testing: 

Collect samples of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products for testing. 

Prepare and maintain accurate records of testing results. 

Ensure testing is conducted according to established procedures and standards. 

Report any out-of-specification results to the Food Safety Coordinator immediately. 

Assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions for environmental issues.  

 

Documentation and Record Keeping: 

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all food safety activities. 

Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and company policies. 

Assist in the preparation of reports and summaries of food safety data. 

 

Compliance and Audits: 

Assist in internal and external food safety audits. 

Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards. 

Participate in corrective action activities. 

Training  

Participate in food safety training programs.

Education / Certifications: 

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred. 

Job Specific Requirements:

Strong computer (MS Office) and MS Excel skills is requiredPrevious experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.Knowledge of food safety principle, HACCP and GMP. Experience in Quality Systems management Good communication skills (Oral and Written) Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills 

Work schedule: 

Monday - Friday on a 1st shift OnsiteFlexibility required

Salary and Benefits:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $55,900 to $75,900; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. The salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
