JOB TITLE: FLOTATION TECHNICIAN
We are seeking a qualified flotation technician to join our Field Services team.
As a Field Service Technician specializing in flotation cells, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Metso’s flotation equipment at customer sites. This role demands a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
In this position, you will report to the Field Services Manager
This position is based at the Metso Alrode Service Centre, Alberton.
TEAM, YOU BELONG TO
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Customers, Metso product specialist and Field Service Support teams. Our team culture is all about excellent customer service on Metso Equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and start-up of flotation cells and associated equipment. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on Metso flotation equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and control system issues. Provide technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance. Perform inspection services and write detailed technical reports and recommendations. Liaise with customers and internal teams to ensure project requirements and service goals are met. Ensure compliance with Metso safety policies and customer site safety requirements. Maintain service tools, equipment, and Metso service documentation. Provide feedback to product engineering and support teams on equipment performance and potential design improvements.
WHO YOU ARE
Grade 12 (Matric) Technical diploma or trade certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of field service experience, preferably in mineral processing or heavy industrial environments. In-depth knowledge of flotation systems, and process control elements. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and manuals. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Willingness to travel frequently, including international travel and extended stays on-site. Fluent in English; other languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French) are an asset. Prior experience working with Metso flotation technology or similar OEM equipment. Familiarity with control systems and automation related to mineral processing. Experience working in mining environments, both open-pit and underground.
Work Environment:
Frequent travel to remote mine sites, often in challenging environments. On-call work and variable hours depending on customer needs. Must be physically fit and able to work in confined spaces or at heights, with appropriate PPE.

Exposure to internal and external environmental conditions, noise, hazards Must reside within the Gauteng district. And be able to be on-site within 45min from a breakdown callout.
