STS Technical Services is hiring a Flight Test Telemetry Technician in Greensboro, North Carolina. This role is critical in maintaining a reliable telemetry link between flight test aircraft and the ground station. You’ll support real-time flight operations, data capture, and post-flight processing—all while working directly with flight test engineers and technical teams.

Job Summary

The Flight Test Telemetry Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining telemetry systems used in aircraft flight testing. This includes supporting test flights, troubleshooting system components, and ensuring data quality and system reliability across a range of environments and conditions.

Job Duties Plan and document aircraft flight test telemetry frequencies and licenses Provide real-time support during flight tests from telemetry control room and van Review, process, and store flight test data after each flight Support pre-flight and post-flight briefings Assist data flight test engineers with data reduction Set up and manage IADS screens to support aircraft and telemetry room operations Maintain and troubleshoot telemetry equipment, including ground stations and tower connections Travel to support off-site flight testing (approximately 50%) Required Qualifications Associate degree or technical diploma in Electronics Equivalent work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree 5+ years of related experience in telemetry or avionics Prior flight test experience preferred Skills & Knowledge Strong understanding of systems and avionics flight test methodology Familiarity with FCC regulations and S/C band frequency management Working knowledge of Quasonix receivers and antenna control units Experience with fiber optics termination preferred Skilled in IADS and related engineering applications Understanding of frequency modulation schemes Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills Physical Requirements Must be able to work in a loud, variable-temperature environment with exposure to dust, aircraft parts, and fuel odors Must be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 10 lbs unaided and up to 50 lbs with assistive technology Ability to read, hear, speak, and comprehend safety instructions and procedures Must be able to work safely while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, EPA, etc.) About STS Technical Services
