About this Role

Flare Construction is hiring a Traveling Field Mechanic to support active project sites across our Civil and Gas Division operations. You’ll be stationed full-time on out-of-town project sites, diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles in the field — the kind of work where your decisions directly impact crew productivity and project timelines.

 

This role is built for an experienced, self-directed mechanic who works well independently and can handle complex repairs without the shop down the street. This is a leveled position. Placement as Mechanic I, II, or III is determined through the interview and evaluation process based on your experience, certifications, and demonstrated skill level.

What You'll Do Independently diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems in field conditionsPerform and manage scheduled preventive maintenance on project equipment to maximize uptimeRespond to breakdowns and emergency repair calls on-site; coordinate parts and logistics as neededConduct DOT and OSHA compliance inspections on fleet equipment; document all findings accuratelyMaintain service records and work orders in the fleet management system from the fieldCoordinate with the Shop and Service Manager and project site leadership on equipment schedulingProvide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members on-site What You'll Bring

 

Required

3+ years of experience as a mechanic on fleet vehicles and/or heavy construction equipmentAC Certification (or commitment to obtain — Flare will support)Strong independent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical systemsAbility to work full-time at out-of-town project locations for the duration of each projectAbility to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and work in all weather conditionsHigh school diploma or GEDOSHA 10 requiredClean driving record

Preferred

CDL Class A preferredProficiency with diagnostic software: CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, or equivalentExperience in construction, civil infrastructure, or gas pipeline industriesTechnical certification in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment technology What You'll Get
