Fleet Mechanic
**Job Title: Fleet Mechanic** **Job Description** As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining a fleet of trucks and trailers. This role involves traveling to various sites to troubleshoot vehicle issues, perform repairs, and conduct routine inspections and maintenance. You will take ownership of your work while serving as a vital member of the operations team, benefiting from strong leadership support, dealership-level resources, and collaboration with mechanics at other locations. **Responsibilities** + Conduct diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify and resolve malfunctions. + Repair suspension systems, pump equipment, electrical wiring, steering mechanisms, and braking systems. + Perform routine servicing and scheduled maintenance on fleet vehicles. + Travel to multiple yards to service and repair out-of-service units. + Complete daily visual inspections of vehicles to ensure operational readiness. + Record all repairs and services in the computer-based fleet tracking system. + Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts. + Communicate truck availability, repair status, and timelines with the operations team. + Test drive vehicles to verify the quality of repairs and overall performance. + Carry out preventative maintenance on service trucks. + Follow established inspection procedures and complete all checklist requirements. + Perform 90-day DOT inspections and maintain accurate documentation for CHP compliance. + Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. **Essential Skills** + Experience in diesel, fleet maintenance, and troubleshooting. + Ability to perform diagnostics, brake, hydraulics, diesel engine, and mechanical repair. + 2–3 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic with diesel and mid-size vehicles. + Knowledge of CHP and DOT compliance requirements. + Strong ability to diagnose issues and complete repairs efficiently and accurately. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or related training/certifications preferred. + Physically capable of lifting up to 150 pounds. + Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with Drivers, Operations, Mechanics, and Dealerships. + Proficient in using computer-based maintenance systems to log and track services and repairs. + Bilingual (Spanish) skills preferred. + Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record. + Excellent verbal communication skills. **Why Work Here?** We offer a comprehensive benefits package including a retirement plan with matching, health, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid life and AD&D insurance, long-term disability, and an employee assistance program. The role requires a clean MVR as you will be moving vehicles around.
