Fleet Manager

The purpose of the Fleet Manager is to cost effectively manage the Company’s automotive fleet, implement and promote fleet programs that align with corporate goals and operational needs that contribute to the overall success of the Company. This position is the primary contact for the Company’s internal fleet users and the external suppliers. **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** **50%** **Fleet Strategic Analysis** + Develops / updates all sections of the Company’s automotive fleet policy, procedures and vehicle selectors by researching, reviewing and defining who needs vehicles, what type of vehicle, how they are to be equipped, how long they are to be kept, how they are to be sold, to meet the operational needs of fleet vehicles. + Analyzes vehicle inventory count and age of vehicles to see if we operationally have the right size inventory levels or the necessity to reduce inventory, as well as the need to dispose of certain older model vehicles. + Estimates the Fair Market Value of used Company vehicles prior to resale and, as needed assists locations with the actual sale, in order to obtain the highest net gain on vehicle sales. + Approves invoices, reviewing and auditing expenditures for vehicle leases, sales, fuel, maintenance and repairs to ensure accurate and timely payment to vendors. + Provides Fair Market Retail Values and Annual Lease Values for calculations of personal use tax required by IRS for personal use of Company provided vehicles, to be reflected as income to the employee. + Researches, reviews and analyzes information through fleet industry resources to find service providers’ available products and services to ensure the programs in place are the most cost effective, value added for our business. **50% Fleet & Equipment Management** + Currently manages a team of six fleet management analysts ensuring fleet management optimization, fleet standardization, and performance is meeting the needs of the company and its operational groups. + Negotiates Competitive Assistance Programs with vehicle manufacturers (General Motors and Ford Motor Company, Stellantis) on projected volume purchases to receive additional discounts on vehicles purchased. + Negotiates Company’s purchase price for limousines and funeral coaches with our selected specialty vehicle manufacturers (Eagle/Federal/S&S/Superior) to obtain the highest quality professional vehicles at the lowest cost. + Assist Heavy Equipment Manager where needed with full lifecycle of outdoor power equipment program. This includes competitive pricing programs with outdoor power equipment manufacturers (John Deere, Kubota, Clubcar, etc) , Equipment acquisition, disposal, maintenance, training and any other related tasks. + Reviews all new vehicle orders received, confirming the vehicle requested is in compliance with Company’s Vehicle Selector list and the Operational Requirements stated in Automotive Fleet Policy, monitoring one-to-one vehicle replacement to control inventory levels. Assists with required up-fitting and out of stock purchases needed. + Manages programs for fueling (Wex), maintenance assistance (Wheels MAP) and vehicle accidents (Wheels Collision Management) to keep costs down, bring higher remarket values, increase vehicle uptime, provide tools to the drivers enhancing their productivity, and provide critical data for analyzing fleet operating costs. + Supervises the Account Management team at our selected fleet management services provider (Wheels, Inc.) to ensure they are meeting our specific needs, providing cost effective tools, and assisting the fleet department in achieving business and management objectives. + Supervises and advises on the development and maintenance of fleet databases instrumental in keeping management informed by compiling and reporting fleet related information on vehicle inventory levels, trends, usage, fuel/maintenance/repair expenses, dollars recovered through re-marketing, and overall analysis of vehicle expenses. **EDUCATIONAL/Experience/MINIMUM Requirements** **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field **Experience:** + Eight (8) years of fleet management experience **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:** + The most important competencies required are: + Customer Focus + Planning + Directing Others + Drive for Results + Building Effective Team + Managing and Measuring Work + Knowledge of the fleet industry regarding vehicle safety, law, acquisition and marketing, financing, insurance, vehicle technology and maintenance. + Ability to communicate with staff, management, peers and internal customers. + Eagerness to learn the service requirements and operational needs of the funeral, cemetery, and cremation industry Postal Code: 77019 Category (Portal Searching): Logistics Job Location: US-TX - Houston Job Profile ID: C00367 Time Type: Full time Location Name: SCI Corporate Office
