Fleet Maintenance & Compliance Manager

Our West End client is searching for a Fleet Maintenance & Compliance Manager to take the wheel of their fleet operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven leader who wants to make a real impact, combining hands-on leadership of preventive maintenance programs.

Fleet Maintenance & Compliance Manager Responsibilities: Oversee the company’s vehicle fleet, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations. Manage and execute preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling service, inspections, and warranty work to minimize downtime. Ensure driver compliance, hours-of-service, licensing, medical certification, and other regulatory requirements. Maintain and audit driver qualification files, inspection records, maintenance histories, permits, and registrations. Lead accident and incident investigations, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions. Partner with Operations and HR on driver/fleet staffing needs, recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management. Negotiate and manage vendor, supplier, and service contracts; monitor performance and cost-effectiveness. Oversee full fleet lifecycle: acquisition, registration, outfitting (GPS, telematics, safety equipment), and end-of-life disposition. Develop and track KPIs such as vehicle utilization, uptime, mean time between failures, cost per mile, fuel efficiency, and compliance rates; prepare regular reports for leadership. Develop and enforce fleet safety policies and driver training programs, including toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing compliance training. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for fleet operations. Uses fleet management and telematics platforms; maintains strong working knowledge of office productivity tools. Ability to supervise and mentor maintenance staff while stepping in hands-on when necessary. The successful candidate has: 3+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, compliance, or transportation operations. Strong knowledge of federal/provincial fleet and driver regulations. Experience leading maintenance staff and overseeing vendor/contractor relationships. Proficiency in fleet management systems, telematics, and compliance tracking tools. Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills. Valid driver’s license required; Class 1/3 with air brake endorsement considered an asset. Compensation and benefits:
