Job Description
The Fixed Asset Accountant maintains and oversees the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accurate capitalization, classification, and reporting of capital assets in accordance with company policy and GAAP. This role manages the full lifecycle of fixed assets, supports construction-in-progress accounting, and performs monthly close activities related to depreciation, amortization, and reconciliations. The position collaborates closely with Finance, Operations, and Procurement, contributes to internal and external audits, and helps drive process improvements and system enhancements in fixed asset accounting.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain the fixed asset subledger, including recording and updating asset additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation.Record and review capital expenditures to ensure proper capitalization, classification, and compliance with company policy and GAAP.Calculate and post monthly depreciation and amortization journal entries as part of the month-end close process.Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness.Review and process asset retirements, impairments, and disposals in a timely and accurate manner.Support construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting, including tracking project costs and capitalizing completed projects.Assist with physical asset inventories and asset tracking to verify the existence and condition of fixed assets.Prepare detailed fixed asset schedules and provide documentation and analysis to support internal and external audits.Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements, where applicable, for fixed asset processes.Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Procurement teams regarding asset-related activity and capital projects.Assist with process improvements and system enhancements related to fixed asset accounting, including leveraging ERP and other tools.Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support growth initiatives within the accounting function.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Experience in managing fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.Working knowledge of GAAP as it relates to capital assets and capital projects.Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, formulas, and data analysis.Ability to reconcile subledgers to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data and documentation.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Operations, and Procurement.Demonstrated desire for professional growth and development within the accounting field.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with Facilities and Construction teams is preferred.Experience with capital projects and construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting is beneficial.Experience using Workday ERP or a similar enterprise resource planning system is preferred.Familiarity with internal controls and SOX requirements related to fixed assets is a plus.Ability to support internal and external audits through preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.Proactive mindset with an interest in process improvements and system enhancements.Work Environment
This role operates in an on-site office environment with a standard workweek of approximately 37.5 hours while on contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent, salaried position. The work setting is a professional office, focused on collaboration with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Facilities and Construction teams. The position uses Excel, an ERP system such as Workday, and standard office technology and software to manage fixed asset accounting activities. The environment supports growth and long-term opportunities, with a culture that values accuracy, continuous improvement, and cross-functional partnership. Professional office attire is expected.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $34.66 - $34.66/hr.
