Yes County Ulster Street Address 21 South Putt Corners Road City New Paltz State NY Zip Code 12561 Duties Description Conduct mammal monitoring and research, primarily focused on New England cottontail, with potential for additional fieldwork related to Allegheny woodrat and bats. Will work in remote locations in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain on foot carrying necessary equipment and supplies. Familiarity with winter woody plant identification, GIS and camera-trapping is desired. Incumbent may also contact landowners for access permission, map habitats, quality-check and tabulate data and summarize findings. Incumbent will at times assist with other aspects of the wildlife program, including raptor and amphibian monitoring, releasing farm-raised pheasants for hunting, biological data collection on hunter-killed deer, and answering questions from the public over the telephone and in person, including questions about nuisance wildlife and hunting/trapping. Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
