**Introduction**
We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Embedded Simulation Engineer to join IBM ZFW team in building and evolving software-based hardware simulations for embedded systems development and testing.
This role is crucial for enabling early-stage firmware development and automated testing through virtual hardware models. You'll be working on simulation models that replicate real hardware—sometimes even before it exists. In the future, you will also help guide the evolution of the simulation toolchain itself.
**Your role and responsibilities**
· Managing and maintaining the service used by IBM Z engineering and development teams
· Adapting and upgrading containerized services for compatibility with upcoming IBM Z releases
· Designing and implementing a cloud-native architecture to improve service scalability and maintainability
· Redesigning data handling processes to enhance performance and reliability
· Designing and implementing service interfaces for formatting scripts and debug symbol management
· Collaborating with other teams to ensure seamless integration and high service availability
**Required technical and professional expertise**
· Perl, Container Management, Kubernetes, Linux/SSH
· Hands-on experience with Linux and shell environments (SSH, scripting)
· Solid experience in containerization and container management technologies
· Familiarity with Kubernetes or other orchestration tools
· Scripting experience with Perl or equivalent scripting languages
· Proven ability to manage and maintain production-grade internal services
· Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
· Design and implement a cloud native architecture
· Design and implement service interfaces for formatting script and debug symbols
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
· Experience using standard Linux developer tools such as gdb or crash
· Experience designing and deploying cloud-native microservices
· Knowledge of IBM Z systems or similar enterprise platforms
· Familiarity with engineering workflow tools or CI/CD frameworks
· Experience modernizing legacy services and data pipelines
