Firewall Engineer – Palo Alto SME

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Palo Alto firewall solutions across enterprise environments.Serve as the primary SME for Panorama, managing device groups, templates, and centralized policy enforcement.Develop and maintain firewall policies, NAT rules, security profiles, and application-based controls.Monitor, analyze, and respond to security events and alerts from Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.Collaborate with network, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance.Perform regular audits, rulebase reviews, and configuration hygiene to maintain optimal performance and security posture.Troubleshoot complex firewall and connectivity issues across multiple network segments. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.Stay current with Palo Alto Networks technologies, threat intelligence, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls in enterprise environments.Expert-level proficiency with Panorama, including device onboarding, policy management, and template configuration.Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs).Experience with threat prevention features such as URL filtering, WildFire, and App-ID. Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Palo Alto certifications (e.g., PCNSE) strongly preferred.The candidate must be US based.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) for firewall management.Knowledge of cloud-based firewall deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP).Familiarity with SIEM platforms and integration with Palo Alto logs.Other Firewall platforms a plus

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $73,100 - $135,700.
