Summary You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR. This announcement has been amended as follows: You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER in the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Fire Department (MCMWTC Fire) of MARINECORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR. Responsibilities You will perform all day-to-day emergency and non-emergency tasks, duties and responsibilities as required. You will perform station, grounds, apparatus, and equipment maintenance. You will perform duties to include but not limited to: extinguishing fires, operating hose lines, set and climb ladders, make forcible entries, ventilate fire areas. You will conduct search and rescue operations, perform salvage and overhaul. You will collect and interpret hazards and response information from printed resources, technical resources, computer databases, and monitoring and testing equipment. You will perform duties as assigned such as decontamination, technical research, reconnaissance, containment, rescue team, medical monitoring, safety officer. You will respond to medical emergencies as an Emergency Medical Technician. You will utilize computer software programs to collect and interpret hazards and response information from computer databases, monitoring and testing equipment, and predicting the likely behavior of released material. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience much demonstrate the following: Serving as a Firefighter responding to fires and fire related emergencies involving structures, motor vehicles, wildland, and hazardous materials, AND administering emergency care. GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience much demonstrate the following: Assisting with tasks as part of an emergency response team responding to fires or fire related emergencies involving structures, motor vehicles, wild land, and/or hazardous materials. Certifications required for GS-05: You will be required to possess and maintain certification a FIREFIGHTER I by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. You will be required to possess and maintain certification a FIREFIGHTER II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Hazardous Material Awareness and Hazardous Material Operations. You will be required to possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. You must possess a current National Registry or State Certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). You will be required to obtain and maintain a CA Class A non-CDL and government driver's license within 120 days of appointment. Certifications for GS-04: You will have 1 year to obtain and maintain the following: You will be required to possess and maintain certification a FIREFIGHTER I by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. You will be required to possess and maintain certification a FIREFIGHTER II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Hazardous Material Awareness and Hazardous Material Operations. You will be required to possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. You must possess a current National Registry or State Certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). ADDITIONAL Conditions of employment: You will be required to maintain a NON-SENSATIVE security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You will be required to work an uncommon tour of duty (may include weekend, nights, overtime, or holidays) and rotating shift work. This position is designated emergency essential personnel and the position is subject to recall. You are required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/Policies. You will be required to participate in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program. You will be required to maintain compliance with NFPA 1582 (Fire Fighter Physical Medical Evaluations), NFPA 1583 (Fire Fighter Fitness Program Requirements. You will be required to participate in the mandatory F&ESD Physical Fitness Program to maintain a level and degree of fitness needed to perform all duties. You may be subject to mandatory recall during destructive weather, major incidents, or any other time determined by the command. You may be required to work in high elevations and/or below ground in confined workspaces. You will be required to work hours and conditions under close contact with supervisors for long periods of time. You will be subject to adverse weather and/or harsh working conditions; burns, smoke inhalation, noxious fumes, falling materials, and explosions. You will be exposed to communicable diseases, unsanitary conditions and traumatic injuries. You will be required to possess and maintain the physical stamina, agility, and mental stability to work under conditions where intense periods of physical exertion and mental stress, under adverse conditions, may be encountered. This position is performed indoors, outdoors, in all types of weather conditions and is subject to heat, cold, smoke, wind, humidity, and stress. This position requires the use of specialized protective clothing and respiratory protection. This position is subject to exposure from hazardous materials that include chemicals, fuels, biological agents, radioactive particles, and explosives. Education Applicants MUST provide all relevant transcripts needed to verify education substitution for specialized experience. The following education may be substituted for specialized experience as listed in Qualifications section: GS-05: I have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a bachelor degree Or I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. GS-04: I have successfully completed a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study Or, I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
